Call of Duty: Black Ops is a first-person shooter video game being developed by Infinity Ward and to be publish by Activision for PC, PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360. It is generally considered to be the sixth mainstream game of the Call of Duty series after the storyline of the previous title, Call of Duty 5: World at War. Call of Duty: Black Ops is still being developed and is set to be released on November 9, 2010.

World at War, the fifth game of the Call of Duty series, features a more mature theme than previous installments. The game is also open-ended, as there are multiple ways to complete objectives. The gameplay of World at War shares several features with previous iterations of the franchise. Players fight alongside AI-controlled teammates. They help during the game's missions by providing cover fire, shooting down enemies, and clearing rooms for entry.

A lot was expected from the CoD4 sequel since its predecessor is tagged as its enhanced version. However, the graphics seemed to have come short of what is expected. All figures in the game should be seen as real or three-dimensional (3D). But as was not expected by its critics, the trees appeared to be flat as if it was a mere drawing in the scene. Graphics play a major role in the enjoyment of the game. This is what makes a game exciting and virtually real. Failure to provide such graphics would be a huge disappointment to CoD followers who are expecting to see a more improved game from the previous version.

Some of the followers attribute the short-delivered graphics from its current developer, Treyarch. Treyarch may have been using their old graphics from their old games making it short of expectations from the original developer which is Activision. Activision, the original developer of the CoD series would now merely act as a publisher of the game, giving its development aspect to Treyarch. Game players which are critic to Treyarch have seen the resemblance of some scenes in World at War with some of the games previously developed by Treyarch. They describe the World at War graphics as a remanufactured graphics from the old Treyarch games making it a huge disappointment to online gamers.

Some game critics bashed on the gadgets used in the game. The radar is described as thermo. The WWII setting was criticized since there was evidently no thermo radars way back in the 1940’s. The guns were described as lousy and nothing new compared to its predecessor, Modern Warfare. World at war was not as spectacular as expected and some posts doubts about the upcoming sequel, Black Ops. With players disappointed at World at War, they post the same view with its sequel even though Infinity Ward developed the sequel. Others keep their fingers crossed and expect better graphics and new scenes and events (and gadgets) on this upcoming sequel which would be due this coming November 9, 2010. Let’s just hope that

Infinity Ward will regain the glory of CoD games and not fall short as what Treyarch have come up with World at War. But still, I’m not buying Black Ops until decent reviews have been given and my disappointment with World at War is brushed away.
